ATS readiness check

Overall score
-

Weighted check of what ATS parsers and recruiters actually trip on. Parse-blockers count 3×, content 2×, polish 1×. Every warning has a How to fix with an example.

How this score works & how ATS really read your CV

What happens when you apply: the portal (Workday, Greenhouse, Taleo, SmartRecruiters…) first extracts your CV's text, then maps it into a candidate record - name, contact, job titles, dates, skills. Recruiters then search and filter those records by keywords, titles and location. A CV that parses badly isn't "auto-rejected" - it becomes invisible in those searches, which ends the same way.

How the score is built: each check is weighted by how much it hurts. Parse-blockers (contact details, characters the PDF would drop, section headings the parser can't map) weigh 3×. Content strength (dates, quantified bullets, skills) weighs 2×. Recruiter-polish items weigh 1×. Checks that don't apply yet (e.g. bullet quality before you've added a role) are excluded rather than counted as passes - an empty CV scores near zero, not 50.

Score bands: 80+ ready to send · 55-79 good, quick wins left · below 55 fix the red items first.

What this can't measure: whether your wording matches a specific job advert. For that, paste the job description into the Keywords panel on the Edit tab - it does stemmed, phrase-aware matching against this CV.

Myth check: "the ATS rejects 75% of CVs before a human sees them" is folklore. Knockout questions and recruiters do the rejecting. Your job here is simpler: parse cleanly, surface the right keywords, and give the human a reason to call you.

Recruiter view - how a portal files you

Workday-class portals never show the recruiter your PDF first: they flatten it to text, map that into a structured candidate record (title, employer, dates, skills), and recruiters search that record. This simulation runs your CV's extracted text back through a parser so you can see what lands where. It's our generic parser, not Workday's own - treat a ✕ as an early warning, not gospel.

AI Assist - four easy steps

No AI subscription or tech skills needed. CV Studio writes an expert prompt for you - you paste it into the free ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini chat and paste the answer back. Nothing is sent anywhere by this page; your data goes only where you paste it.

1

Paste the job listing

Open the job ad (LinkedIn, IrishJobs, the company site), select all of its text, copy it, and paste it in the box below. This is what the AI tailors your CV against.

No job listing yet? You can skip this step - “Improve my bullets” in step 2 works without one.

Or check core keywords for your discipline
2

Pick what you want - the prompt is copied for you

Click one button. Everything the AI needs (your CV, the job listing and expert instructions) is copied to your clipboard in one go - you don't write anything yourself.

3

Open your AI, paste, and send

Click one of these - it opens in a new tab (free accounts are fine). Click into the message box, paste (Ctrl+V, or long-press → Paste on a phone) and hit send. The AI replies in seconds.

4

Bring the answer back

For “Tailor my CV” or “Improve my bullets”: copy the AI's whole reply, paste it below and click Apply - your CV updates instantly.

Your current CV is kept in File → My CVs slots - save a copy first if you want an undo point.
